k and n fipk
would a kandn fipk intake system be good to use with a camaro ss with the hood scoop?...because i already have a whisper lid descreened maf and the cut out mod.........or just save the money and stick with the current hardware?

I'd say stick with the current setup; I've got the fipk, and while it is said to have notable gains over aftermarket lids, no comparisons have ever shown anything conclusive. Besides that, the fipk really uglies up the engine bay, stick with a smooth lid, maybe consider a cold air kit to help with the FRA mod.

Go for some drag radials or some better bolt ons instead...

Not kidding - dyno sheets below... car ran 12.13 @113 on just bolt ons in +1800 DA @ 3600 lbs raceweight ... keep in mind that the FIPK may be $300 - you should be able to pick one up for around $270 though - you're done once you have the FIPK, no need for an FTRA/SSRA/SLP Coldair.

I know i didnt gain nowhere near 23hp from mine maybe 10hp if im lucky, Iv never heard of anybody claiming that much from a FIPK, KN only claims 14rwhp with it, did you get a tune with ur fipk or did you just do a before and after dyno of the fipk. Congrates on the gain either way.

No way there's a 23 rwhp increase. Not unless your stock run was with a diaper shoved under the lid. Just dynoed a car at the shop with a true before and after from stock lid, baffles and all, to k&n fipk setup. Car dynoed 287.6 rwhp stock, 299.2 rwhp with fipk. That's just under a 12 rwhp gain. K&N claimed up to 18 rwhp on a dyno with simulated airflow, i.e. they used a big fan to make it seem like the car was going 60 mph... At best, with a simulated airflow and non-corrected numbers, you might see 23... but if so... well that's just crazy!

Pulls were 6 weeks apart ... similair summer days SAE corrected, but the PCM had time to adjust to the FIPK.
Car was bone nuts stock, 8 weeks old, with about 1200 miles and 10 passes on the first session and just the FIPK, with about 1700 miles and 25 passes the on second session and no bullshit dyno tricks.

This may be far fetched, but could the engine have actually broken in substantially between those 500 miles and 15 passes? I've seen lots of proof that when an engine wears, it can gain a good 10-20, any thoughts?

you should just get the ultra z hood, it works better than the ss hood.
