Just switched to magnaflow vs Flowmaster

I took off my flowmaster and put on a magnaflow muffler.
Thought the magnaflow would be louder because its was said to be more free flowing. Can hardly hear it at idle...but it does sound nice at wot.

Flowmaster is a horsepower robber. Can't wait to get ride of mine. Going to go with GMMG. If the MagnaFlow has fiber in it run water in it when it is hot.

Do you still have your Flowmaster? I can sell you my Flowmaster muffler if you want to have it welded back in. If you are looking for performance stay with Magnaflow.

Flowmaster blows for performance. Magnaflow may be quieter but it's worth more hp so who cares?

    I completely agree.

For the best performance and cheap. I have a flowmater cat-back installed with an exhaust cut-out. I dont car how well other muffler companies flow, nothing outflows a cut-out.

Plus I dont have a muffler filled with glass packing like the old glass packs that change in sound over time or absorbs water.

I would love to do the headers but my mechanic was bitching when he had to do the plugs and wires.I don't want to even ask him to do the headers.I have a new opti and water pump sitting in my house because he was huffing and puffing. Can't find a performance shop in Phila Pa.That can do everything I want done.....Heads..cam...headers...I would love to do I complete rebuild but every place around here just wants to rebuild it back to stock. If I want heads on anything other then a step up on the cam,i can't get it no matter how much you are willing to pay. These engine guys are silly....I guess no one knows the LT1.....Found a place that will build me a engine...355....cam...1.6 rockers....stock heads....$3200.00....but....they can't tune the computer and won't install it...what good does that do me.

it's a aero chamber muffler....so it flows like kawk. If you ever see one that is cut open you'll see what I mean....but in it's defense it does sound good, especially the 40 series

i have the same problem, i live near boston and the mechanic i use said not to get headers cuz the install was a bitch... convinced me to just get a flowmaster and keep it at that. The muffler does sound nice, but now i dont know what route to go with my exhaust. Headers and a y pipe seem like the way to go, but did i waste my money on the muffler? im wondering if i should just leave it on, and get headers and an ypipe, dothe install myself and hope it sounds and flows nice.. i like it really loud, so maybe i should put on an slp loudmouth with headers and a ypipe? too raspy? i just dont know...

Thats it....I'm not thinking about this car anymore.....What to do next,,should I shouldn't I......I'm driving this engine till it falls out....while I save up some more money.
Then I'll get the block rebuilt....bored out to 355.....1.6 rockers....mild cam....mid-tube headers.....GMMG exhaust.....some support mods.....new cluch....b&M short throw shifter....maybe freshen up the trans depending on money...up grade to 3.73 or 4.10 gears...since my hood was banged.I'm thinking slp ram air hood....and before it starts to rust get the underneath undercoated......store it...keep it clean...covered....and enjoy it on the weekends.

I'll choose the Magnaflow over the Flowmaster for the F-bodies any day. Magnaflows are freer flowing and sound great at WOT. If it's too quiet at idle for you, you can remedy that with a cutout!
