Just installed my first mod :)
I just got done putting in my new lid. I already took her out for a test drive with it. No wonder everyone says that's the first thing that should be done to the car.... It drove 100x better. The throttle response was a night and day difference. Now it's time for a new rear end since mine sounds like someone threw gravel in mine

welcome to the site...
Did you just get the car or have had it for a while?
Pull the cover off and do a fluid change. Look for anything loose or metal chunks.
If you have questions post a pic or vid and we'll try to help as much as we can.Last edited by SMWS6TA; 07-07-2011 at 11:30 AM.

Well I've had the car since 08, but I was in highschool and didn't have money to mod it. But, I bought it from my step-dad, and bought the car back in '00. So i've been riding around in it for 11 years now. lol. Anyways, I bought the rear end used for dirt cheap after my last one completely destroyed the diff, however it's only been in the car for about a year. I'm almost positive the ring and pinion are about to give out. I've almost saved up enough for a 12 bolt which is what I ultimately wanted for the car anyways. Between my step-dad and myself it's been through 4 rear ends (all used) so I'm not buying another one, even though they are the cheaper option.

I know what you mean, I'm still on the original rear with 145k miles on her; but I know it's going to need replacing soon with all I have planned for it.

Like SMWS6TA said.....a fluid drain and fill with syn fluid, can go a long way to reduse the noise, or just make it last a little longer, till you do a 12 bolt swap.
