    Just bought my first LS1

Hi i just bought my first ls1 fbody. I used to own a 94 and 96 z28 so i am familiar with these cars. I think stock i should be around 13.8 in the 1/4mile. I would like to run 13.5s. heres what i have. 1998 Trans am A4. It has slp lid,k&n filter, flowmaster catback and hypertech power programmer. Do you guys think i can pull a 13.5 with this? Also are there any other cheap mods i can do for nice gains? Any info is appreciated thanks.

it could be a reach to ask for 13.5. im not sure of your elevation, but here at the track in houton, elevation of about 30ft, i ran 13.7 in a similar modded 2000 formula....

Many people hit 13.5 or a shade under stock the cars are well capable of it. As long as your at a decent elevation and dont light the tires up off the line you should meet your goal or surpass it.

Your 60' time will make all the difference. Learn to launch the car with your stock tires and stock converter and you might meet your goal.

My 60' was pretty dismal -- 2.2 seconds or just a bit under. The "WS.6" factor didn't seem to help much there.

The ram air really only helps after 80 mph or so it seems like.

I really don't think it does anything other than look mean as hell. Too many baffles and not sealed to the airbox.

I have a 98 A4. Get a LS6 intake ported and polished TB, some lt headers , off road or catted ypipe depending on where you live and preferance and a better catback. Then throw away the Hypertech and go get a real tune from either frost on here or any local shop. you'd be amazed what a real tune does. raising my rpm shift points alone helped. Also depending on weather you have 2.73 gears will make a difference, mine came with 3.23's but I know most 98 A4's were 2.73 cars. If they are get 3.42's or I went with 3.73's and it doesn't raise the hp but gets you down the 1/4 mile alot faster.

The catback came on the car when i bought it. I thought about getting a different tune but i just bought the car so there is no way i can pull the pcm out and not drive it for a week or two. i checked it does have 3.23 gears in it. If i buy a different intake do i need just the intake or do i need to buy other parts too?

My car with catback lid and maf ends ran 13.003 @ 108 on a 2.004 60'. Like everyone said, with good DA, you shouldn't have an issue getting a 13.5 with your current mods.

If you buy the A SLP LS6 intake it haqs the EGR hole in it. If you just get a used one off a newer car you can get ride if the EGR crap and just have it tuned out. I bought mine used from a local performance shop and they installed it and deleted the EGR crap for me from the comp. for free and set vthe fans for the 160 stat I had installed the day b4.

I wouldnt suggest slicks/DR's, unless you have $2000 set aside for a new rear. Just get a good size stall and learn how to launch with minimal tire spin. If you bring your 60 down a bit you should hit 12's.
