My drivers side cat went out. I took it in and 2 weeks later the passenger side went out. 2 months later my ses lite came back one and it went in for another visit, they ended up replacing both of them agian. Shortly after that they both came off... Pontiac sent me a letter saying that the cats wernt recalled but if they go bad they will replace them I didnt pay attention to how long the warrenty was for tho.

Does it cost money for them to diagnose the cat problem though? I have noticed the same thing with my cat back slp loudmough (1) exhaust.....and as the first post i just got done being sick so i thought my ears were clogged from the sinus infection........so if your exhaust does sound quieter...it could be a bad cat?........i have mine replaced a couple of years ago under the warranty thingie........didn't cost me a dime could that be the same problem again?.........for me..........

cats aren't going to go out so fast, unless you are running rich. but I'm sure it would cost money to diagnose it at an official dealer, if not under warranty.

flakes from exhaust pipe? What do you mean?

I mean a steady stream of flakes; i assume whatever material is in the cat, pouring from the exhaust. I don't know anything about how a cat actually works, so i don't know what exactly they are, just that I saw them falling from the pipes
