    Hooker Headers

Hey guys I am thinking about getting some Hooker Super Comp Headers ceramic coat for my 01 LS1. The car already has quad dual Magnaflow exhaust installed.

    Are these headers any good?
The headers I'm looking at are 1 3/4.

I got jet hots too. Wanted Hooker's but jet hots were cheaper at the time and seem to be holding up pretty good? Got about 40k and everyday drivn on them for bout 4 years? Like said above the guy at Jet hot said they resembled Hookers almost exactly without saying they were the same which he couldn't do.
    finally 551 RWHP!!!!

Good headers but all ceramic coated headers will rust in the future. Imo if your not going the stainless route I'd just get the cheapest ceramic ones you see. (usually Pacesetter)

Hooker 1 3/4 here for the last 6 years or so..... hard to remember...... but love the shit out of them. I don't drive the WI winters but my headers don't have very much rust on them. Not enough to be worried about looks or rotting through. I could prolly get about another 5 or so years with no worries. I think I'm going to a 1 7/8 here in the next 2 years or so. Most important thing............DO NOT USE CRAP GASKET!!! USE OEM GM GASKET!! Follow that advice and you will be happy as a kid in a candy shop my friend.

yeah, stick with the oem gasket.

i had a problem with my exhaust leaking between the headers and the y, so i replaced all of the band clamps with these:

no leaks at all. highly recomended.

people say you get more power from ceramic coated, but they will eventually need to be replaced after a few years, unlike stainless.

i think ive heard of some people buying stainless headers, than having them ceramic coated.

Going for for stainless route I've been checking out a set of OBX stainless steel headers on ebay, that include a ypipe for $500. They are 1 3/4 long tubes.

If not these i might spend the extra 200 for Texas Speed 1 7/8 and ypipe, but they would be carbon steel with ceramic coat.

    Any suggestions between the 2?

why would you get more hp from ceramic coated headers? Ive never heard that before, also, why would you ceramic coat stainless.....

My rule with my car is, if your going to buy something, buy it right the first time so that you dont need to do the same thing 2x. If you plan on keeping your car for a long time, wait a few more months, save a few extra bucks and do it right the first time. Theres always deals out there, just have patience, dont rush to buy headers for $500 bucks just because there cheap. If you plan on having your car for only a few years then buy the cheaper stuff. Just my opinion tho.

Stainless steel holds heat better than the mild steel ones to begin with, therefore no ceramic coating required.
