The Hooker Aero Chamber Muffler
For anyone looking for the perfect muffler for their LS1 F-body let me just say , I've tried just about all of the others and this IS the one !If your still running with your cats in place & want a really nice sounding exhaust system with just enough of a RUMBLE to let everyone know its a V8 but not so loud to be obnoxious, Hooker's the one . The Magnaflow sounds pretty good but just at certain Rpms. Otherwise it's just not loud enough . I've even had one person tell me it sounded like a 6 cylinder . The Dynomax Super Turbo also was too quiet . The Texas Rumbler was WAY too loud . Inside sounded like a resonance chamber .
The Hooker sounds just right at any RPM or speed . Has that great deep V8 idle & crusing sounds so good with the top down that sometimes I have to just turn off my killer sounding Monsoon & enjoy that highway rumbling sound .
Now at long last I've found an exhaust system that can compete with my 5.0 Stang Vert. The shitty sounding exhaust was really the only thing about my 02 Z that I simply did not like . Now I won't have to go through all the trouble & expense of headers and or TD's .

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
i have a hooker aero chamber muffler welded in place of the magnaflow muffler.
long story short, i had the magnaflow catback and also had long tube headers and catless y-pipe, way to loud and raspy. i ditched the magnaflow muffler and put a aerochamber in its place. it rid the rasp and the car sounds tits.2000 nhra edition formula

I don't have an f-body (yet..) but I put a pair of these mufflers on my Mustang and now I won't use anything else on any of my vehicles. They have a great tone, very muscle car sounding, deep, and sound great when you get on it, but are fairly quiet at idle and (especially) at cruise when you're just trying to chill, and all that with NO annoying resonance. On my latest Mustang project I just installed a pair of these with a Dr. Gas X-pipe and the sound is ORGASMIC. Perfect match. But they sound wonderful with an H-pipe too.

Hooker AeroChamber on my 2000. Sounded great right off and got even better after a few weeks of driving. Strong, mellow sound.

I have never heard them in person on a ls1 but I have only heard good things about the sound.

i have lt's. ory, and the magnaflow catback and i dont think its loud enough, too tame, even when your on the throttle. I always liked the sound of hooker, just have never bought it. guess one of these days i might try them out on one of my vehicles

Can you get these in stainless, or are they just aluminized?
And where did everyone get thiers? I want to do a muffler-only soon, and after reading this, I'm thinking of going Hooker.

Aluminum
Pretty sure mine is rolled aluminum, certainly not stainless. I forget exactly which sponser I got it from. Do a web search for Hooker Aerochamber and you will turn up something. I really like mine..nice and mellow but gets louder with age (break-in) and WOT/Downshift.
