Hood hard to shut with the Volant?

I just put my Volant intake on, its the WS6 volant on an SS camaro.

My hood will shut, but you gotta drop it pretty hard, if i try to just push it down, it feels spongy, like its compressing the foam around the edge. the highest point other than the edges are the edges of the cones, but it feels the same if i remove those.

Anyone else run into this?

I would use playdo or something and mld it around the seal to see whats keeping it from closing smooth

i figured id use vaseline to see whats hitting first. But like i said, its not anything solid, its spongy, i wonder if its just the foam liner having to compress

Just a suggestion but you could try placing a digital camera under the hood pointed @ the area (find a safe spot to set it) and record while you close it and see if that yeilds anything..

i actually thought about that, I have a go pro...just not sure about lighting, lol....i guess my mag light would work

Did you ever find out what it was? i have the volant box as well but never had any issues with it. is it a new hood as well to your car? I was thinking it might be those rubber spacers on the front corners of the engine bay that help the hood sit level. well at least thats what i have always assumed.
