    hood baffles question

I have heard that if i remove my baffles from my hood (99ws6) that i would see an improvement in power. I was curious though as to how this will affect functionality of the car when it rains. some people say you can drive it in the rain if you remove the baffles due to water getting in the engine, others say its no big deal because you wont get that much water in there. Can anybody give me some insight. Any of you guys done this. This is my daily driver and i dont want to comprimise it.

I did that with my old WS6,could not tell any difference in power,I drove through many rainstorms and never had any problems.

its not about HP gains its about bein more efficient. The WS6 hood can be more efficient with a BGRA and an open filter intake not air lid setup.

For a daily driver I would not risk having it sucking in rain. Like the prior stated it might be more efficient but unless you are running at the track all the time I just would not mess with that. Safe than sorry.

Just leave them in. No power to be gained and it looks better.

I removed the front baffel and made rear one removable so I could install it when it was going to rain.

I removed the rear baffle in my hood. I left the 2 front ones in to use as rain guards.

More cool outside air is always better. Its still not a direct path from the hood to the airbox, but it sure as hell is better than the useless stock design.

more air probably less turbulent than stock.. but i always say more air more power- who knows- i did it have had no problems and think it looks fine- I painted my grills to contrast the car color- now if you leave the grills out that just doesnt look quite right

I know on the SS hood the baffles are not only for rain but also for support, wouldn't mess with them.

Really...well the WS6 baffles definitely aren't for support, they are flimsy as hell even with all 12 (or whatever ridiculous amount) of rivets holding them in.

It actually looks like it was designed to come out, why else would they rivet it in and make it so easy to remove??

well im sure it would draw colder air in,,,,naturally at speed..and as for rain going in try to open your mouth in the rain and drink it.....almost pointless as not enuff goes in...also i had 6 inch cowl on old car with tunnel ram...if water came in it vaporized quickly.
