    High output alternator?

I need to replace my alternator on a 2000 LS1. This engine is in my Jeep and used mostly for off road driving. I'd like a higher output alternator (140amp?) but can't seem to find one. The part number for replacement (RockAuto.com) is ACDELCO Part # 3341280 and this is a 110amp. If anyone can point me towards a source for a replacement with a higher output that would be fantastic!

Think this is the stock location, drivers side upper part of the engine.

    Thanks!

There is a truck alternator that is higher output that some members use but off the top of my head I can't remember which one, specifically. Somebody will chime in and steer you in the right direction, though.

IIRC the part number is ACDELCO Part # 3212128

Look for 99-03 GM Heavy duty trucks that have the 145 amp alternator that has a 4 pin connector.

I'm not sure if the bolt size is the same. You may have to do a little modification first but it will fit.

My understanding is that it mounts up the same, minus the third bolt up top, which isn't used.

Ordered the 3212128 alternator and the distance between the mounting bolts is about 5.25" (could be 5 3/8). On the alternator on my LS1 the center line distance between those two mounting holes is 6". So that alternator does not work. According to RockAuto my stock part number is 3341280. Is there anyway to cross reference this part number with another alternator that would have the same bolt pattern just have a higher output? It seems there are a number of different alternators available, I did find one page where they stated numbers like 5 3/4 and the link which I was guessing might be the bolt pattern centerline.

Any ideas here would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Better yet, how about a part number for an AC Delco OEM direct replacement? I have replaced the tensioner pulley, idler pulley, ewp (has a dummy pulley), and I have the most god awful shrieking (metallic sounding) from what I believe is the alternator, but scoping it gave no definitive answer. It's coming from the driver's side and I can't fathom it being the power steering pulley. we you run the car sans the belt, there is no noise.

If I don't have to replace it, I'd prefer not to have to mess with the pain of doing the alternator. Any thoughts?

Sorry, not meant to hi-jack, but didn't see a reason to create an entirely new thread either.
