helping a buddy with exhaust
I am helping a buddy with his exhaust on his 2003 acura rsx-s. he bought a race header and a cat back system. there is no cat anymore. the header is already installed but he wants me to install the cat back. how hard is that?? is there anything that i should know? or is it pretty straight forward? also, with not having the cat in there will i need to have a piece of pipe to put in place of the cat so that everything still lines up? thanks

I am not sure on the Acuras, but a Cat-back installation is usually easier than the header installation, as long as you have a lift or adequate clearance to safely work under the car. Usually (qualifying that) you just need to unbolt the clamps take the old exhaust off, put up the new exhaust, line it up (don't tighten anything down) make sure you have your clearance, and everything fits nicely then tighten (one pass) front to rear; and then final pass front to rear.
I personally don't have any welders so I would then run to an exhaust shop and have it all checked (re-aligned if necessary- it shouldn't be though) and then welded together.
Have fun and be safe! Safety first, last, and always!

BTW, I am not an exhaust expert, my expereince is just with my old Mustang 5.0 (1988), our F150 (2001), and our Camaro (2002)... *shrug*
