    Headers & Ypipe

Im looking at getting some stainless steel lt headers, either QTP, KOOKS, or STAINLESS WORKS. I also want a stainless steel off road y-pipe. Can i use my stock cats with this set up or do i need to get a catted y-pipe?

For starters, the difference between a catted Y-Pipe and an Off-Road Y-Pipe is the cats. Catted has them (obviously), ORY doesn't.

Secondly, because the headers move the Y-Pipe so far down and back, you will need a new/different Y-pipe.

So your decisions need to be:
    1) Catted or Off-Road Y-Pipe?
    2) Buy it or build it? Most of the header manufacturer's build and offer Y-pipes specifically for their headers, and most offer a catted and off-road version. These will all fit, but some are a PITA or need massaging to fit properly. The other option is to get the headers on the car and have a muffler shop build you a custom Y (with or without cats, depending on the laws in your area and the willingness of the shop to operate in- or outside those laws).

    Hope that helps...

thanks. Doesn't really answer my question though. I see now a shop can make one for me.

If i get for example qtp lt headers can i run my stock cats then an ory, or do i need to get a catted y-pipe?

This makes no sense. Cant have cats then an ory. If you want cats you need to get a catted y. Stock ones wont work.

How much do you guys think it would be for a custom y-pipe at a muffler shop? And what would they make it out of? I want a stainless y-pipe. Would a muffler shop not have stainless steel? My goal is stainless steel headers, stainless y, and stainless exhaust (borla).

You can have anything you're heart desires, for the right price, of course!
