This is a discussion on are headers without a tune useless ? within the External Engine forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; if someone adds headers but dont get a tune will this = minimal gain ?...

    if someone adds headers but dont get a tune will this = minimal gain ?

    Its not a must to get a tune after installing headers. You will run rich and won't see maximum gains but will still see improvement, 15-20 RWHP gains without a tune typically.

    To get the most out of the exhaust you will need a tune. I know from my experiences there was a significant gain with the tune. With my mods and no tune 336 RWHP with a tune 357.

    One thing that is worth mentioning here. Longtubes may or may not make the car IDLE richer, but at WOT the car will be LEANER without tuning.
