which headers for a lowered vert 99

I have a lowered WS6 convertible 1999. I need to get this thing breathing !! However I am concerned about scrapping the pipes. I have a stock y pipe with flowmasters. Any advice would be appreciated as well as what to expect with install ie: 02 sensors etc.. Will I have to... or should I change the y pipe?

Thanks in advance for the help.

get some mid tubes if your really concerned with scraping, otherwise everyone other than slp make a good fitting header.

I really dont think you would have any problems with Pacesetter LTs. They tuck under my car VERY nice I dont think you will run into any problems. BTW Yes you will have to change the Y pipe with LTS, you might want to anyway cuz the stock Y is flat as a pancake.

    Advice on the instal
Make sure you soak down the manifold bolts in a good penetrating oil, it will become your best friend.

Long tubes are the only way to go with any after market header. You will see the best gains in power and you shouldnt have any problems being lowered. Just know where you might scrape and try to avoid those areas. Having a vert wont make a difference.

    Vert or not...
I am lowered with Kooks longtubes. No problems.

Just stay away from SLP and you will be fine.

American Racing headers fit well on a vert. I have 4.5" clearance, stock ride height, catted Y. You will have a little more clearance with an ORY.

You can feel the difference, and hear it too

Thanks, you guys are a big help.
Next question ...cats or no cats. Florida is not an inspection state. However, I am concerned of loosing too much back pressure ( for low end). Any thoughts ?

To save on $ I would probably go with no cats. Dont worry about the back pressure, you will gain a few hps without them. Just tune the codes out, or use 02 sims.

I personally run mac midlengths and love them. People bad mouth them all day but I like them. They need work such as porting the primary because the welds are absolutly horrible on the inside of the primarys, I also cut off the ball flange and had a custom cated y-pipe made. My car also makes very solid numbers for its mods 358/369 at the wheels. #1 reason I got them was ground clearance, here in fl the roads suck, every damn shoping plaza has that nasty dip then and incline to get into the parking lot and then 50 f'in speed bumps in the plaza. My whole system tucks as tight if not tighter than the stock setup.

Nothing wrong with them, good set of headers.

Thanks for all of the advice, I have another question.
While ordering the Pacesetters and OR Y, am asked if I want the EGR or not. I plan on having the 02 sensors tuned out .. is there an easy way to do away with the EGR also. Or should I leave it in and order that version of header with that aplication.

they can provide you a block off plate for the egr. Sounds like you will be getting block off plates for the air pumps. Might as well get egr with block off plate so you can smog the car if need be. If you have to they do have strictly off road headers with no air or egr provisions. Egr is easy to get rid of, you just need a plug for where the egr goes to the intake manifold. P.S having 02's is a good thing, they will help your car and tuner run at their most efficient.

One more question before I order ... EGR and A.I.R. or not. I have a choice on the Pacesetter LT ( quick trip) order the LT without the EGR & A.I.R. .

Is there a benefit to keeping it?
