    Headers Going In...Install Q's

I have a 2000 WS6 6spd and just picked up Pacesetter LT's with ORY (race style)...I need to know what exactly I should get for the install and maintenance item list I should do while I am in there...here is what I have:

    NGK TR55IX Plugs
    MSD 8.5mm Wires
    Polyurethane Motor Mounts

I am going to need o2 simulators as well to keep my cel off. Where can I get these for my car? Will I also need the Corvette o2 sensors that are longer or no?

    Thanks,
    Evan

Are the Pacesetter gaskets/hardware good to use?

Its not the best to use, GM gaskets and Stage 8 locking header bolts would be much better to use. You can use the Corvette 02 sensors or buy a pair of 12" extensions.

I would reuse your stock gaskets before I put cardboard gaskets in there.

i read somewhere that they did away with o2 sims, the guy that put my headers on said forget the gasket set that came with mine, he said that it would be no problem to reuse the originals and they would hold up better.

I was going to get the prothane motor/trans mount combo from summitracing. I will try and pick up the gm gaskets and grade 8 bolts as well. Do any trimming of the gaskets need to be done or no?

I believe 02 simulators are getting harder to find,,,,I think EPA is cracking down on that stuff.

You will most likely have to get those rear 02's turned off in the computer via someone with software..

I reused the original GM gaskets that were on the manifolds,,,,has worked great, and I think thats what most people do on the LS1's.

On the front 02's I used a pair of nice extensions complete with weather pack connectors about 12 inches long.
The headers probably came with some wiring to splice together but I don't recommend that route, could cause some issues.
If your 02's are older, with alot of miles on them, you might want to consider just getting a new set, as they are considered wear items just like spark plugs etc.....in which case you could get a pair for the corvette application,,,which are longer,,,then the extentions wouldn't be needed and makes for a cleaner install.

I had replaced my 02's recently before the header install,,,if it wasn't for that I would have went the corvette 02 route.

Careful. Prothane had a bad batch of the motor mounts recently. I got a set of them and it was a P.I.T.A.
You can still use them but you have to flip the mount 180 degrees to get it to fit.

about to install the headers and will be installing aftermarket intake manifold as well and was wondering what I do with the i.a.r. and the egr stuff? the headers and y pipe are the race style so no provisions for them as well as the intake manifold deletes them?
What should I do with the rest the setup?
    Thanks,
    Evan

just take it all out of there. The air pump is behind the drivers side headlight and if your intake has a provision for the egr just use an expandable freezeout plug. I forget the size but it's on here somewhere because I've posted it a few times. Search freeze out plug and see if that digs it up.
