Definately go long, or save your money. Shorties are too much work and cost for too little gain.

long tubes will give you better gains ..however they change the positioning of the cats..which in many states is illegal...shorties do not move the cats and look better then the stock manifolds

Check your laws about removing cats. If you can then just get long tube headers and an off road y pipe if you wish or x pipe

Ceramic coated Pacesseters are what you might want on a budget. They are pretty cheap and pick up a nice gain of power. Or spend a little more and pick up some used QTP's or Kook's. American Racing might make a stainless steel header if I remember right. They will last quite a while and put out a couple more HP than the Pacesseters.

you do a little..but the y pipe 99% of the time is where you really loose clearance

I believe (someone correct me if Im wrong) tuned length give you power on the lower RPM range 2500-3600 while long tube the power comes at higher RPM range 4500-6000.

equal lengthed headers will give you a minimal gain across the entire band...
