    header rubbing!

ok got pics of where its rubbing and how close it is. please chime in any ideas how to fix because in turns and hard throttle its an obnoxious vibrating sound. I looked at my motor mounts and the side with the problem did have hairline cracks in it, but also the pipe is so close. I also have a mount for my y pype so it doesnt rattle back there, please help

Well like you said your motor mount has a crack in it. Getting polyurethane mounts would help a little to stiffen everything up. Other than that you may have to take some metal off of your K member.

Either air drill with a grinding bit or a torch will work for ya.

just grind a little material off the k-member. Had to do it for mine too. Goes to show top $$$ headers and ebay headers have the same fitment issues...?

I'm not sure I would blanket statement like that. There are going to be variances between cars and I would probably say that motor mount is 99% of the issue here.

probably, but grinding off just a cunt hair should be fine. The fitment issues, yes there could be many other variables. Probably the motor mount if it's cracked.

Agreed my kooks1-3/4 fit like a glove with no rubbing at all. Usually you get what you pay for. Im thinkin the cracked motor mount is the culprit as I have way more room than that on my Z

I wouldn't blanket statement like that either. I've had my pacesetters on for a few years now and they've been great headers for less than half the cost of the others. Same with my brothers pacesetters on his gto.....good header for not much money when you compare prices.

I wouldn't wait to long...those are some expensive headers to rub a hole in.

yea for now I would at least use a grinder to take some of that metal off of your K. After that it is very possible that you may gain enough clearance and not have the problem anymore. Just make sure you are using a shield on the grinder so you dont throw that shit up into the engine and back down on your head......just go slow as you dont want to remove any more material then you have to....also if you are grinding on a weld.....only try to notch it where its rubbing dont grind the member down the length of the weld...keep as much there as you can

IDK every Jeep I've built whether it have the inline six or a SBC in it the pacesetters always either rusted or cracked at the welds within a few months. Who knows they might be better with LS cars but after my experience with them Ill pass.

What ever you decide on check with KYSpeed. They are a sponsor on this site and normally have better prices than anywhere else. Just check with Mark.

If you order prothane poly mounts, and they're anything like mine have fun It took me 3 hours to get the motor mounts lined up and bolted in with the K-member OUT OF THE CAR!!! It's gonna be a major PITA in the car. My mounts were literally only 1/8" - 1/4" off and It was that difficult.

Pretty much what I'm getting at is you should alott a decent amount of time to do this.
