I've been browsing Texas Speed's website and thinking about buying the Pacesetter Long Tube and Catted Y Pipe combo for $700, but I noticed that they lowered the price on the Catted Y Pipe individually to $300. Now i can purchase the Cat Y and the Long Tubes separate and pay a total of $675. This is odd. I'm wondering if they are going to lower the price on the combo deal.

Anyway, a quick aftermarket exhaust emissions question I have yet to see answered:

In my state they perform visual inspection; basically, during the safety inspection they search for cats on the car. As long as there are cats on my car, I'm Ok. Thus, I should be fine with the Cat Y pipe. However, what about the Long Tube headers? I've read here that Long Tubes are still illegal, even with emissions fittings. I'm confused. So will I be able to pass a visual safety inspection with Long Tubes?

The Pacesetters come with paper gaskets. Should I buy a better gasket set, i.e. Fel-Pro? If so, do I need to get an OEM exhaust manifold set or special header gaskets? [/edit]

If your on the MO. side you'll be fine with inspection as long as you have cats. Inspectors just look for them. LT's are not illegal. The noise they make is. Again, you'll be fine with cats and a catback exhuast that isn't free flowing.
