Has anyone bought/installed the ls1 weiand intake?
Hey,
Has anyone installed an weiand intake manifold on their ls1's yet? If so, do you think it's worth it and did you "actually" make a gain from it??

Just about everyone will tell you the heat soak will rob you. Most people will agree to get the ls-6 manifold to keep temps down and a proven 10whp.

actually the project started out a ls6 intake and a cam. Found a few extra dollars and it jumped to a fast intake and thottle body 90mm a larger cam , dart 225 heads , 36 lbs injectors , fuel pump , underdrive crank pully and a new tune.

i installed a weiand ls6 intake to my car. i noticed improvement. i really dont believe this nonsense about heat soak. other than a few annoying things during the install i like it. its cool too because its the john lingenfelter edition, and as we all know, that guy knows a few things about ls1's...

Hey mpfranks!
I notice u modify ur ls1 coolant lines to fit the weiand manifold...if u cut and braze as the instructions tell u where did u hook up the coolant line to the throttle body?
and i i'm thinking of getting a weiand too, 370$ a good price brand new?

you have to modify your coolant lines for any ls6 intake unless you have a 01-02. the bottom of the ls6 intake is different than the ls1, there is no valley on the ls6. and no, i have an 80mm throttle body, so i got a new piece of hose and did the TB bypass. i think thats about what i paid too. i am happy with the gains from my weiand, but i did have a few complaints during the install. i wrote about it in the other thread.

I thought weiand advertised around 30hp/tq on their intake? I am planning on this intake and probably the hot cam kit in the future. Glad this thread came up cause I was about to ask the same question.
