Got Loudmouth, need headers...
Ok, I have a 99 Z and I currently have loudmouths on, I was happy at first but like all... grow to want more. This spring im gonna have enough dough to throw a good chunk at my baby, and I know for certain that headers are one of my first additions. I am almost 100% set on Jet-Hots but I don't know if I should keep my loudmouth.
P.S...... I am pretty retarded as the whole y-pipe thing goes , so here's the stupid question... will I need to buy one when I buy my headers? Whats the difference between Y and X pipe?

I am in the same boat. Yes you will need a new y pipe jet hot has them with and with out cats. I think I will go with the suppermaxx (stainless with cats)$1299@jeggs
Also I have read Here that the loudmouth is to loud with headers?
Also told to get a ls6 intake.Last edited by skar; 02-11-2006 at 09:28 AM.

From what I've read, the loudmouth catback with headers is loud and raspy, especially with an off road y-pipe. Perhaps cats would tone it down some, though.
As far as the OP's question, get jet-hots (or what ever manufacturer you decide on going with) y-pipe. That's the second easiest solution for hooking up your exhaust system, the best bet is to have a custom y-pipe made by a good exhaust shop. That would give you the best fitment.

If you are going to get longtube headers I dont think you will like the loudmouth. My friend had the loudmouth with headers and it was way too raspy. I did not like the sound at all. He later changed to a mangaflow catback. That sounded pretty good. I also have heard some people say they like the hooker catback with headers. I have a gmmg with my longtubes and ory. It sounds really good. Its not that cheap though. You can give the loud mouth a chance but i doubt you will like it in the long run. Another thing, Pacesetters are really good longtube headers and wont set you back as much as some other ones.
