Gains from removing AIR and EGR?
I'm putting in new headers soon and i'll have the opportunity to have all my codes deleted so I was thinking of getting rid of these emissions systems. I don't have race style headers so i'll have to order some block off plates. The EGR doesn't look like it would be hard to take out but the AIR system runs to the back of the intake manifold. What have you guys done? any tips? Could more rwhp be gained by removing these things?

The A.I.R. runs to the exhaust manifolds not the back of the intake.

You won't really see any gains because those systems are shut down at WOT.

if theyre close, with 91,000 on the LT1, then you either have a bad memory of ss speed, or that LT1 has work done to it...night and day difference in my opinion between the engines

Get rid of both of them especially if you can get the codes deleted. I got rid of both of them on my car in less than an hour. Makes the engine bay look a lot cleaner.

You either have to buy or know someone with a hand held tuner to delete the codes. Be better to get a tune that way you get the maximum benefit from the headers and also get the the codes deleted. On another note, deleting the EGR and AIR wont give you any power addition. It will just reduce some weight and clean up the engine bay.

i didnt know anything got removed from the engine bay i just thought some functions were turned off going to the headers. does any one have abefore and after pic so i can see what all changes. so if i do a dyno tune after the headers, they will be able to turn off the ses light from the codes? thanks
