I have a volant, so I'm not sure if the FIPK is the same, but mine had a connector to put it into the new box and came with a breather filter for it.

Here is my Volant intake. You can see the hose you mentioned, plus how it is hooked up into my box with a breather filter.

That goes to the air pump. You can go get a small filter to clamp on there and call it done.

The air pump just draws air through that hose to inject into the exhaust stream to help heat the cats up faster. I would recommend a filter on it so it doesn't suck crap into the air pump. You can just tie it up out of sight.

The fipk hose gets connected to a small filter. Its mentioned in step 26 of the K&N directions. My kit came with the air in jector filter. You cut a couple inches off the end of the hose and attach it onto the filter.

The SLP air lid has a plug there. Mine came this way so I have no hose of any sort going to the air pump. . . . .
