    Favorite Lid

I am trying to decide which lid to buy.........as I understand it they are all almost equal as far as performance goes, so I was wondering if anyone can post some pics of different types so I can choose which one I like the best..........If I am wrong on the performance issue please correct me..........Thanks

SLP was rated by GM High Performance Magazine as the overall best for power increase, ease of application & customer service. All the lids look pretty much the same but MTI motorsports offers one that is transparent if you think looking at your air cleaner is cool and Whisper offers a carbon fiber "look a like". K&N and Volant offer the sleekest look, especially Vollant but they both want all the money.
Keep in mind unless your vehicle is not already equipped with a cold air induction RE: WS6 or SS package, then all you need from SLP is the lid and perhaps the smooth bellows and a Holley or K&N air cleaner, not the entire SLP conversion kit. They do not do a good job of explaning this.
    Hope that helps.

The biggest improvement for my car was when I put on the K&N FIPK intake system and long tube headers.

This I find VERY difficult to believe. SLP doesn't have customer service. They don't back any of their products.

    I like this....
SLP lid sanded down and painted.

SLP ease of application... that's like a oxymoron isn't it? I had a Granatelli lid(still do, it's for sale) and it fit a lot better then the slp one I have now. My SLP lid takes a little muscle and a screwdriver to push the tabs down even after being on for 5 months. The Gran lid slipped right on from day one...but it came with a k&n breather instead of the hole and tubing for the air pump hose....didn't like the look of it, so that's why I got the slp.

Is the SLP lid made by the same SLP company that did the conversions for these cars from the factory? I thought that the company that did the conversions went out of business??

The tight fit actually happens to be one of the strong points regarding the SLP lid according to the article. The idea is that more air will make it to the intake an less will leak out. That's the theory anyway.
