exhaust manifold bolts.
I know this sounds stupid but here it is. I'm putting pacesetter longtubes on the camaro. i'm at the point now where the exhaust manifolds need to be removed. I've gotten all but 2 loose on the drivers side. the 2 are the back 2 of course. i've sprayed them down with w d 40 and let them soak for a day. im really wrenching on them but they won't budge. question is how strong are these bolts? grade 8? or what? anyone know of any tricks to get these off without snapping them off? I really do not want to take the heads off to be repaired. this is really starting to worry me.:help

Does youre car have alot of miles? Mines werent that hard to take off, i just sprayed 'em with wd 40 and let them soak for a few minutes. I know its easier said than done, i was pretty sketched out about that part of the disassembly myself, but sometimes it just requires a little elbow grease. I wouldnt recommend the heating method myself, being dissimilar metals and all, if anything try some pb blaster and let them soak a little longer.

well i tried the pb blaster stuff and it did the trick after i soaked them down repeatedly for about two days straight. made alot of progress on it today considering i had to put the woodwork back in my daughters room and get all that back together. gotta party tonight so maybe tomarrow i'll get the headers installed.
thanks a bunch once again for the tip.

Just put Headman headers on mine and I found I was missing a bolt on the drivers side because it's stripped

finally got the headers on. I know... it took me quite awhile.....AND ITS DEFINATELY WORTH IT! it sounded sooooooo good! i would put in a sound clip but all I had was a digital camera so the video sounded like shit. cant wait to get my dual exhaust on it! the sound of it now gives me goose bumps. anyway thanks to everyone here at ls1.com this forum has been so helpful to me. I learned quite a bit just reading through everyones posts. hell I didn't even know true dual exhaust was possible on these cars till i stumbled onto this site. one thing about this install. the coating or film on the headers started to blister on parts of the tubes. is this normal? they are pacesetter headers. not a big deal though. the sound makes up for it.
so next step is get the pipes on and see what I can do with hp tuners.
thanks again everyone. I hope my ramblings on this site somehow return the favor.

Glad to here you finished up the install, and that youre happy with it. Unfourtunatley i cant help you with the issue youre having with youre coating, i have hookers myself and i havent experienced that. Are the headers coated or just painted? Anyways, enjoy!

they are ceramic coated. when I installed them it seemed like a plastic coating on them that i cold see tiny spots where it pealed away. kinda like when you get a new phone or something like that and it has that platic protective cover over the screen only it seemed more like a permanant thing.
not a big deal. i just hope it doesn't get any worse.
