Exhaust ???? Help

Ok I'm looking at doing a custom x pipe setup on the SS and dumped at the axle. So would 2.5 pipe be to small? I'm prettymuch stock with shortie headers and a few bolt ons. I plan on using the magnaflow mufflers on it also. Any help is appreciated. Oh yea the cats are staying on for now.

I've always heard that 2.5" is good up until you pass the 500 hp mark or so.

Oh and I can get this x pipe set up done for about 400 bucks. That's with the mufflers. This guy is awsome at pipe bending.

^^^ 400 is a good price and I was wondering about the needed pipe size too. Anybody making good #'s with 2.5in duals??? Only reason for not wanting to go with 3in is room under car and price is usually higher, but can be done if hp is sacraficed with 2.5in pipes.
