Check out http://ls1sounds.com/ as it will give you an idea of what to expect. I have seen a few members who have ditched their loudmouth systems due to the raspiness with headers. My personal choice was a Magnaflow system, both for appearance and sound: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121606 Let us know what you decide on.

Exactly. Its really all about sound. There isn't too much of a performance difference between aftermarket mufflers. But Magnaflows are great because they have a straight through design and flow outstanding. Hooker is another inexpensive, excellent flowing muffler. Most people, including myself, don't like the sound of Flowmasters on new-gen small blocks but they aren't too bad either. Just make sure you rust proof the muffler casing

The SLP Loudmouth 1 & Loudmouth 2 are pretty much the same
exhaust design. They use different bullet style mufflers though.

The LM1 has a straight through resonator with no baffles or
fiberglass packing. It is almost the equivalent of running straight pipes.
It has a raw unrefined sound.

The LM2 uses a fiberglass packed bullet style muffler that is slightly
quieter. The tone is smoother & more refined.
I had the LM2 on my car for about a week & I got tired of it.

IMO, both sound terrible without cats.
    To each there own though.

Stay away from the SLP stuff....unless you are deadset on NEVER upgrading the headers. It really doesn't sound that good with headers. Raspy as hell.

    I personally recommend Magnaflow.

I love the sound of borla. It's unique, with interchangable plates so you can make it louder or quieter. I've actually got one for sale for $350 plus shipping. Basically brand new. It just has a scratch on the driver's side tips. If you're interested

I have Corsa touring and LT's on my GTO and a Borla catback on my Trans Am. Both sound great but different. I like the GMMG sound but like the Corsa stuff they are expensive. I would like to add a set of headers to the T/A but the Goat is eating up all of my mod money right now. Everybody have a great and safe New Year's tonight.

    My vote goes to Borla.

I've owned Borla on my 96 Vette, the wifes 2000 WS6 and my cammed 02 Z28

Yeah, on both the Z28 and WS6, the tips didn't quite line up. I had to do a little massaging to get em to go
