    Engine /trans oil cooler

Anyone install an engine oil cooler on their camaro/T/A? If so, is it worth it? Easy install? Or what about the trans cooler, I was going to purchase, but was sure if I needed it. I have no stall speed, just a tune from frost, and I also installed an aluminum rad. With 2 rows of 1 inch tubes, and a heavy duty trans cooler. Would an auxilary trans cooler be nec.?car is hardly ever driven and never at the drag strip, but I just wanted to keep the trans a little cooler with maybe a cooler from b&m. Thanks guys

A supplemental transmission cooler is never a bad idea -- I added one to our car last year along with a 3,200 stall converter. You can also install a truck style transmission pan or an aftermarket unit -- it is deeper and usually has a drain plug provision. You just need to make sure that you also buy the extended filter. As to the engine oil, there is actually a provision on the side of the oil pan, above the filter, for an oil cooler. I have never seen one hooked up on our cars, but it appears that it would be a simple process after the fitting is drilled and tapped, or simply exchanged for another one made for a cooler hookup.

Thanks for the info man, I think im gonna go with a b&m cooler qith 24000 gvw or so just to be safe. Or do you think thats too much with the primary heavy duty cooler? I definetely wouldnt need a cooler with a fan would I? Or would that be way overkill?

Probably overkill -- I run a medium size tube and fin cooler made by Hayes. I was originally going to get a stacked plate style cooler, but the fact that our radiators lay back at an angle made it appear that airflow would be less than ideal with this type. I do run a transmission temp gauge which is a very easy install and allows me to keep an eye on things. The sender screws right into the port on the driver side of the transmission case.

Kooks is great -- I run their 1-7/8" LT's and catted Y on our car.
