Electric Cutouts
Are eclectric cutouts a good way to go to hold me off until i get LT's and an ORY. And will there be any gains in HP, i have a 2000 WS6 A4, Lid and SLP Dual Dual and its just not loud enough

The cutouts are normally after your cats so you will still have some resistance but just a little less from your exhaust. My cutouts are loud as all hell though so if you want noise that will give it to you. One thing to note though is your exhaust note will change from going through a muffler versus out the cutout and tend to be more raspy.
Electirc to me has both a good and bad. Good side is of course no messing around with undoing wing nuts and you can open and close at will. The bad side is many of them tend not to last to long. My friend had one fail in less than a year and I have heard other varying times.
HP gains are not as great as you may hope but it can be a 5 to 7 gain.98 T/A: HPE 5.3 Heads, 238/242 113 cam, Kooks 1 7/8 stepped LT headers, Custom Y pipe, Cut out, Borla, NW 90MM TB, FAST 90MM Intake, TB Bypass, Under Drive Power steering and Crank, 150 Dry NOS, Yella Terra rockers, 3400 TC, HPE tuning,

Require welding.
Well, I've heard of some company making a slip-fit cutout. Don't remember who though.

My first one went out after about a year. Kind of sucks, but, Oh Well.
I love the sound mine makes when fully open.
After the dyno, I only gaind about 7 RWHP. But again, the sound is GRRRRRREAT!

I would tend to go the other way. Just the cutout is around 30 bucks and I think I paid someone 20 to weld it on. With cats I ran mine open 24/7 and never got a ticket. I loved the sound myself. I added the McCord power plate after the headers and !cats and it's honestly a blast to have on there. Everyone is a little different in what they want to do to their cars but that by far is one of my favorite mods. I've ran the mccord for 2 years now with no issues and I open and close mine on a regular basis. With stock manifolds and cats I would definitely spend the $50 and get a cutout put on. I don't think you'll regret it.

I've said it once, and I'll say it here again...
You guys that'll find a smog shop that'll overlook your long tubes are real lucky. Also, living in an area where the cops ignore the loud sound a set of long tubes and ORY-pipe makes also helps.
