Egr problem......new intake manifold
i own a 2000 trans am, i have the stock intake manifold with the egr setup. But i'm trying to go with the '01-'02 model intake without the egr. My question is, how can i delete the egr, and also the wiring that goes to the canister on the cylinder head? Also, is a '01-'02 model intake manifold the same as a '01-'04 ls1 GTO, Z06?
-Thanks

To delete your EGR you're going to have to get EGR block off plates for your exhaust mainfold

and intake

then have the EGR tuned out. You can then remove the EGR valve (canister) and locate the wiring however you choose. I don't know about the intakes, you'll have to wait for someone else to answer that.

Thanks 346ci for your post, i saw those manifold block off plates earlier today, i'm going to be changing out the entire intake manifold, so i don't think i'll need block off plates for the intake. Know, do you know by any chance once i remove the canister on the cylinder head, where does the wire go to, does it go strait into the computer, i really dont want to just yank something out not knowing were it actually goes to, or how to pull it off ?

if you are talking about the electrical plug that goes to the egr, just tape them up out of the way, nice and neat.

i'm sure, once you block off the manifold and replace the intake, or block off the intake's egr inlet, you won't need the egr connector (recent posts), i'm sure you can cut the connector and tuck away the egr wire, (and a tune might help for the "chk engn light")

like everyone else has said..... just unplug the connector and tape or zip tie it up out of the way. You'll want to get tuned at some point to have the egr timing adder zero'd out.

I wouldnt cut it out, just incase you ever sold it and the new owner wanted it back. I was able to tuck mine away and no one knows it was there.

Just tape it back so that water doesn't collect in the connector just in case you ever want to return the car to stock, I don't know if the fast intake has a EGR hole or not. I'd call whoever your getting the intake form about whether it has EGR holes.

Thanks, really helpful suggestions, i don't think the FAST intake has egr inlets, but for know i really want to get my hands on a z06 piece. I've been keeping an eye on the ones on ebay. It's just to get a couple of bolt-ons on my TA. I'm getting an ls2 built on the side for later(.) ....- thanks.
