    Egr & air pump question

Does my 2002 Z/28 have EGR & air pump fittings made into the stock exhaust manifolds ?
If so does that mean I have to order headers with these fittings or can these be safely removed ?
    THANKS

EGR didn;t come on the 2002 cars, but does have the air fittings. Unless you have emissions testing they can be removed safely, jut need a tune to turn off the codes for the air pump.

I heard that the air pump causes the cats to heat-up faster and if removed will cause damage to the cats over time .
Is this correct as the cats are expensive ?

Damage so does running your car for 100,000 miles They help reserve them when the car runs rich when cold that's about it not a big deal either way.

hell while your eliminating the other emissions systems just get rid of the cats too. its for the same purpose. or just get some dummies and you dont need to worry about them. i am under the impression you dont have major emphasis on smog tests in your state though.
