DTC code 1404?-EGR Valve,what gives?

Today had the local Advance Auto Parts read my SES code,1404 pops up,they couldn't help so I checked the net and it's one of two.
EGR Valve closed Pintle Position or
EGR Valve Stuck Open or Circuit Performance
Car is running fine with no misses or bad idles. Until I can get it looked at was wondering if anyone else seen this and did you have to replace EGR or was there a "quick fix" LOL

Basically according to my 2000 GM Service Manual. If the voltages are good to the EGR Valve and Pintle remove the EGR valve and check for debris that is interfering with the valve movement. If that doesn't correct the condition change the valve.

Pull it off and clean it. Probably has some carbon stuck in the pintle. I used to have this happen to an old blazer I had.
