Do we have variable runners on our intake manifolds?

If we do, is it possible for them to malfunction? I get no throttle response below ~2500rpm. Yesterday, I needed to accelerate quickly from about 2 or 3 mph in 1st, and there was quite a bit of lag after WOT. This has been going on for a while, but, I've never needed to WOT from that low. My induction system is clean, so I don't think its a dirty filter or anything like that.

Thoughts? Car is in Phoenix, if that matters.

Okay, so... even though I recently cleaned out the K&N, I went through and cleaned the MAF and the TB. Re-installed the K&N. No difference. Bought a paper filter, installed, and BAM! Instant throttle response. A clear difference in initial response with pedal application. Not a big top end gain, of course, but the problem I was having has been solved. And I'm officially dumping my K&N... too much of a PITA to maintain... and even after cleaning it, it's just too hard to get all the gunk and rocks and bird feathers etc out of the nooks and crannies.... I'm switching back to paper filters every year.

Another convert for a paper filter, eh m?

At least for our set-up, K&N air filters have proven over and over they are a waste of time/money.

However, if your K&N was clean, you really should see almost no difference between it and a quality paper filter.

Well, my car came with the K&N from the previous owner. I'm sold on the paper, now. It probably has better filtration, anyway.
