Cutting out my Cats 2marrow, any tips??
So tommorow I am going over to a buddys house and were planning on cutting the cats out of my z. I have stock exhaust manifolds with a magnaflow cat back. Any input on this? is it worth it? will it throw codes? mess up air/fuel ratio? thanks guys!

id take them off knock the inside out or find some already knocked out and put em in place so if someone looks under or for a state inspection you wont fail right off hte bat youll gain from it but get a ses light the second sensors monitor the cats but itll just turn the light on shouldnt affect anything though

So if you take all the inside of the cats is a good idea?
Is it a real gain on power?
Too loud?

It's a minor gain, ~5-10 HP. It will definitley turn on the SES light, the PCM will find out shortly what you've done. No, it won't mess up your A/F or other driveability, other than being louder with some added raspiness.

I've done it on the iroc I used to have and 97 z71 it is a power adder how much I don't know and it does get a little louder idk what you consider too loud... If u gut the cats and run straight pipe itll be real loud and be kinda poppy sounding when you get on it and sound like a truck but if you keep mufflers on it you'll be ok

I put straight pipes in place of my cats. I had the rear O2 sensors tuned out so I don't have a check engine light. Car sounds great

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
See my sig for exhaust mods.
Just deleting cats will not require a "tune" but you will need to have the rear O2 signals deleted in the PCM as it will throw an SES light. The only reason the rear O2's are there is to measure catalytic converter effeciency.67 Camaro: K-K + 797-z (look it up), 454/Th400/4.10 12-bolt = 6mpg, PS/PDB/PW tilt, tach, gauges...

As others have said you'll gain a few pony's and the rear 02/s code will not effect driveability.. Engine exhaust tone will change some, and your exhaust may smell different. Some have said they noticed a little smell of gas but nothing major. Your engine will like the less restricked flow.. I'm not sure you'd be able to get a sawzall up in there on the ls1 setups tho, but it's what I used to make short work my cat when it took a shit on me..
