cutting out the cat?
i was thinkin about cuttin the cat out of my car (92 lumina 3.1)... i know im not racing it or anything, so no flaming please lol
i live in a county that we have no emissions tests in. all cats do is clean up the air right? no benefits, just negatives, like robbing power, fuel eficiency, and sound?
am i wrong about this? i asked my shop teacher to cut out my cat and weld pipes straight to the muffler, and he said i shouldnt do it cuz it would probably hurt the performance of my car, due to loss in back pressure.
what do u all say?

it'll fuck up your PCM, it will give you a rich mixture at idle most likely unless you get an O2 sim which i dont know if they make for your car,
my 90' volvo has a major exhaust leak before and after the cat, so the o2 sensor gets like no readings so it makes the mixture rich as hell at idle, smells like a dirtbike

keep the cat, it's not worth the time or money to remove/gut it. it's a lumina for christ's sake...
