Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
Shorties may help a little
a cutout will probably be better depending on your catback
The mac setup has no cats so that may free up some power
dont know the exact gains but either should help
i personally would do the headers over the cutout
cutouts sound muffed out on stock manifolds imo

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
01's and 02's have the best exhaust manifolds. They are almost as good as shorties. Since you're lowered the stock exhaust under the tranny cross member (it's flattened) might be best as a round replacement might drag.
Just adding a QTP E-cutout in the I-pipe (the usual place) gave my (otherwise stock at the time) 02 Z28 a 15 rwhp increase when open.

I have the mac LT's and I think a off road y-pipe on my stock setup was lower then my LT's setup.

MAC mids through GM cats welded in the MAC Y-pipe (MAC cats are awful) gave me about 20rwhp. They are easy to install and tuck up nicely.

Mids and shorties are completely different. Shorties are not worth it they don't flow much better than stock manifolds but mids are a different story. If you have clearance issues mids are a great alternative you lose a little over LTs but not as much as people think.

especially if u replace the awful mac y-merge with a true 3" or 3.5" flowmaster merge. probably within 2 or 3hp of longtubes. only difference will be that the powerband will probably be a little higher in the rpm range because longtubes are usually better for low end while mids are better for high end.

White- 02 T/A WS6
why does everyone do a y pipe on these cars? doesn't a true dual exhaust give more flow? i haven't been in the ls1 game for too long yet, but i know the mustangs get the most power with an x pipe, and 90% of f body owners do not use them. is there a reason for that? is there a resource showing dyno tested anything?
