Sebring Silver Metalic- 2002 Camaro Z28
Crazy MAF Question
Can you or would you clean your MAF?
My new 02 z28 has lived in some kind of super dusty dirty who knows where land. I was wondering if there was a way to clean the MAF without busting the delicate wires.
Just curious and looking for things to clean, . I already hosed down the radiator and A/C condenser coils as best I can. I never saw dirt and bugs caked on like this before. It wasn't enough to affect the cooling or anything, but it explains why everything seems to be dirty and nasty.
I have already had to replace one AIR check valve and I know the other one is about ready to go.
I thought I would see if there where any other parts that could be cleaned.
I used TB cleaner on the throttle body as well.

ty. I take it you hold the can back a little bit so you don't blast the heck out of the wires. the last thing i need is a MAF bill, .

You are thinking too much into it. It is pretty straight forward.
You take off the MAF from the vehicle. Hold the can away from the screen "X" amount (it says on the can I do believe) and just spray the shit out of it.
Then you just make sure to let it dry really good before putting it back on the car.
Good to go.

okie dokie. I just know the normal spray of like Carb, WD-40 stuff is a pretty strong blast, even if your not using the straw. I bet it sprays more like PB Blast, kind of weak but gets every where, lol...
I'm sure i'll be fine. I haven't broken a MAF yet, but then again I don't shoot stuff at lol...
ok, so i look forward to helping the economy this weekend, 3 or 4 dollars at a time, hah...

I use isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip to do mine. It's more tedious than using the spray, but I feel it does a better job at cleaning. I also use kim wipes (lint free for electronics) to wipe away any excess or alcohol residue. The biggest thing to avoid is breaking one of the thin wires. But overall it's a simple task to clean 'em up.

Ah, CRC, I have a can of the carb cleaner on the self. I probably use it to hose stuff down way more than I should, .
