CME Exhaust Question
I have a question for the smart exhaust people out here. Here is my question. I just got my Camaro back after finally finishing my CME set up which is just like L3THAL Z28's Camaro at the top of this page. http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...&page=2(thanks for the great idea L3THAL) from the muffler back. We both have the Magnaflow catback. When I got in it today and started it up to drive home, it didn't sound as loud or deep as it did with the Magnaflow tips on. When I got home, I looked at the set up and right away you could see that the size of the pipe the shop used from the muffler to the tips is much smaller than the Magnaflow tips. So I measured the circumference and there is a 1" difference. The Magnaflow measured 8" around before the actual chrome tip and the one on the car now is at 7". What, if anything, is this going to cause for my overall performance? I am going to be installing a set of LT's sometime this summer also. Thanks for any help or ideas.

whats diameter of pipes? because if its supposed to be a 3" and they are giving you a 2" i would be seriously pissed. you wanted bigger pipes for a reason, will they create much of a performance difference if its only form muffler outlet to the tip? answer is no. but the smaller pipes get rid of your deep throaty sound, i would get hte bigger pipes.
but first find out pipe diameters... what they are, and what they should be.

I believe the outlet from the muffler is 2.5". I can't measure the diameter of the ones that are on the car now, only the circumference. It looks like they may have used 2" pipes and welded them inside of the opening instead of 2.5 over the opening. I am going to take it back today and talk to them about it.

i mean performance isnt a big issue, just because its already behind hte muffler, its a straight shoot out the back from there. but it will change the sound a bit, you would get a bit of a deeper sound with the wider pipes.
on the otherhand, nobody would know about it, except for you. it would be one of those little things, but still, might as well have it done right.
