    Check Your FAST 92 Bolts?

I just did a FAST 92 install and am having a problem keeping the 10 long ss bolts, that came with the intake, torqued down. I tried blue loctite, then red (per FAST's recommendation) and they still will not hold the 89in/lbs torque. I called FAST and they have not heard of the problem. They said they will call some of there high volume buyers to see if they might have seen this issue. Have any of you guys with this intake checked your torque on these bolts lately? I'm thinking it has something to do with the use of stainless steel bots into the aluminum heads. This is not going to work if I have to keep re-torquing theses bolts after every drive.

isnt that to high? 89 ft lbs? the instructions say 89 in/lbs

•Lubricate o-rings with clean engine oil. Inspect orings
for damage. The OEM recommends new
injector o-rings after disassembly. Carefully start
all injectors in pockets, then firmly seat one side
at a time. Add thread lock to M6 studs and tighten
    to 10 N/m (89 in/lbs).

    or am i wrong

are your port gaskets fully seated in the intake? It could be that they aren't and give you the illusion that you tightened the bolts but they sink deeper thereby making it look like the intake bolts came loose. Ask me how I know LOL I had to go around and tighten mine like 5 times until they finally seated. If that's not it get bolts that are drilled for wires

Something is wrong if they are backing out with RED loctite. That should not happen. Have they actually been working themselves out? Or just not holding the exact amount of torque you applied initially? Have you checked what torque has been held by lowering your TQ wrench and seeing what TQ is actually is actually still on the threads? I have never heard of this, Mine is doing fine.

the other question is are you using M6 bolts and your threads aren't stripped out on the head?

Initially, without any loctite, I set my torque wrench to 45in/lbs to re-check them and every bolt was looser then that setting. That's when I tried blue loctite without any luck. Called FAST and was told that they use red. I removed all but 2 of the bolts, cleaned them, applied red loctite and let it sit overnight. I then drove about 2 1/2 hours to have the car dyno tuned. Before tuning we checked all the bolts (wrench set at 80in/lbs) guess what, loose. Re-tighten, did ten pulls and a test drive checked them again the same way, loose. Re-tightened for the drive home, let it sit overnight and guess what? Wait for it ...... loose. Re-tightened, marked 3 to see how much they are actually moving and haven't had a chance to drive it yet. Still waiting on FAST's call back. Will keep everyone updated. PS the bolts are the ones supplied with the manifold and the threads are not stripped.

are you using the tightening sequence for them or just tightening them up front to back? Make 2 passes. One at 45 and one at 89. Just a thought.

Something is still out of place. Were the bolt holes clean? Is your TQ wrench accurate? Last time it got inspected? Everytime I use Caterpillar RED loctite on any bolt... it either means I need a 3/4 impact gun or some heat on the bolt. Different applications with different size bolts obviously, but those bolts should not be backing out with red loctite on them. Did you use the different style valley cover bolts? I dont know if that would matter, Im just trying to shoot some ideas out there.

that had crossed my mind also. I personally wouldn't use red loctite on those bolts. They'll be a major pain to deal with if you ever have to pull the intake again. The blue should be more than enough to hold those.

Absolutly. Blue will be more than adequate to hold those little bolts down. I go threw bottles of loctite at work, usually blue. And this is with 100,000 LB + machine. Blue will not rattle out. Red is overkill and like you said, could be a PITA when you want to remove your intake sometime.
