Cats or no Cats
I am probably going to have pacesetter LT's bolted up to my car and i was just trying to figure out wether i'm going to have a catted Y or non catted Y.
can someone tell me the differences / bennefits to each, will my car be really loud with the LT's and a flowmaster and would cats make it sound a little less raspy?
how much HP would i loose with cats, and if i got the o2 sims would that hinder my engine's performance or calibration?98' SS Convertible Camaro-76k-Build # 1471, Cragar SS rims, RK SFC's, MAC Panhard, LSX Tune, Shaner S3,

Well we are into "perception" lil buddy....what is loud to one fella may be a kitty purring to another.....yes you will get a lower tone without cats...more bass so to speak....and some report smelling like gas when they crawl out of the car with no cats...minimum power gains....most end up going catless for one of two reasons....
1. Your mods/tune burns them up. That would be me....so I took a broom handle and gutted the SOB's....I got cats...but nothing in them....so I pass inspection ( we dont have emmisions here in my county)...got a deeper rumble with them gutted and I smell like Irish Spring when I fall out of the car....
2. Folks want a loud ass car.
I deleted the rear O2's in the program....or you can just get the rear simms and be done with em and throw no codes without the cats...up to you....as for the loudness....mine with SW LT headers/Y/gutted cats/DynoMax Thunder Tubes and Borla exhaust are "loud" but non intrusive except at WOT...then children cry and old ladies shit themselves.....at highway cruising there is a slight drone but nothing AC/DC cant take care of on the stereo....

I heard that flowmaster is raspy with long tubes. You will gain a couple hp by switching mufflers.

Yup^^^
I always recommend to the young guns around here to go with cats first....even though they do absolutely nothing until they reach like 700* and of course 99% of your cars polution is done when cold...so your car warms up and you are putting out zilch for polution and your cats start to work...makes sense to me...If I was a IDIOT...Oh well...rant/This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

that is exactly why i pulled my cats off, Flashed the computer, and ran a stainless steel y pipe to a dump before the axel. Then installed the loudest kenwood system i could find so i could succesfully break any noise laws that may be in effect. killed two birds with one stone

I will be ordering a set of kooks to day and y pipe catless. I now have a Loudmouth and read hear it will be to loud. I like it loud but not call the cops loud. SLP makes a kit to turn the loudmouth in to a loudmouth 2. ? will the loudmouth 2 be better.
Is this kit any good. Other ideas.
