    Most people leave em off when they get LT's. You can have them welded onto the two branches of the ypipe if you want tho... I would suggest at least ditching the stock CATs tho, they tend to go bad pretty quick...

    Some aftermarket LT/ORY systems will have a section of pipe that is modular (right word?) and can be swapped pretty quickly for a hi flow cat (often included). I know FLP offers a setup like this...uses V-band clamps.

    If your cats are busted, you'll sometimes hear a rattling noise, more so at idle, that is sometimes mistaken for a loose heat shield (on cars that have them).

    I've seen dyno sheets that show minimal HP loss between no cats and hi flow cats....Magnaflows can be had pretty inexpensively on ebay. I got a 2.5" in/out for my 5.0 caprice for $55 or so, shipped.
