catalytic converters
Ok, I took my car into GM because the ses light was on. It turns out both cats are completely clogged and bad. They will replace them for free and the guy called and said "I don't know how you had any power at all this will really rob your power." "I think you will be surprised with what kind of power you have when we get it fixed." Could that be right? I got kind of excited and I don't want to have my hopes up if he is just full of it....

Its possible, but only if they are actually clogged. Cats can also go bad without being clogged, they just become inefficient.
So if they are in fact clogged (which is difficult to tell unless you hold the cat up to the light and look through the honeycomb) you should notice that the engine has more power and sounds better.

Yeah I thought they were only warranted for 8 years/96K miles? Maybe his car was barely under the warranty. Unless it was extended.
And if they were somewhat clogged, you will see an increase in power/MPG. Let us know!

Your best bet for power is to get rid of them completely. Save the old ones and have the new ones put on and sell all 4!

Just call them and find out. Have your VIN ready. Tell them you heard something about an extended warranty for the catalytic convertors. It is also possible that you missed it by a month.
BTW, you might want to consider an ORY or headers and ORY. We live in IN, no emissions checks.

I just called. They said that the warranty expired August of 2008, and that my cat had already been replaced somewhere around the 23k mile range by the previous owner.
How the hell did you get 10 years?

I just had both Cats replaced under the extended warranty. The letter I received from GM says 10 years/ 120,000 miles. I do feel a significant improvement in power. I had no codes but the CATS would make a sound like a spray paint can rattling and the engine would knock when it normally wouldn't under load. Here is a copy of it.
