Cat-back gains over stock SS exhaust
Hey,
I've got a 2000 SS with a stock exhaust system (I believe it came with the "non-loudmouth" SLP exhaust, the one with dual/dual tips). I'm looking for a slightly louder, more aggresive sound, and I'd of course like to add some power if possible. My question is, what kind of power gains should I expect from upgrading the cat-back system? My concern is that since my stock exhaust is already a high-flow exhaust (so I've heard) I won't see much, if any, of a power improvement by upgrading. Although I'm primarily looking for a better sound, I really want to get some power out of it too, since it's going to cost so much.
Is there anyone out there that's upgraded the cat-back on an otherwise stock SS? Were there any noticeable performance gains?
Thanks.

Whatever you do don't go with Flowmaster. Dpending on budget go with Borla or GMMG. Both good sounding kits and look good also. Flowmaster has a great sound but if your gonna mod the car it isn't good for power.

I went with Borla and I couldn't have make a better choice. It was more expensive but it definitely kicks ass! It sounds great ...I noticed a huge difference in power and it evens sounds like it ...I will never go with any thing else!

The question is over a SS exhaust. I think the gains would be minimal since you already paid for and have a more free flowing exhaust.

the slp dual dual i fprobably one of the best flowing stock. if you want louder..get trus duals. if your gonna get headers at anytime..keep the dual dual...it sounds amazing with headers...and it wakes up the sound a lot more.
