Can I tune out codes to pass emissions?
I was wondering if I go with a catless y pipe (to save $200 and be louder) could i get the rear 02's tuned out (or get 02 sims) just like if i had a catted y and still pass emissions. I'm in CT and i dont think there is any visual/sniffer test.

As long as they only plug into the OBDII port for 96+ vehicles (as in NJ) you should be fine. They trust that the computer will supply the necessary information about the status if the emmissions system. They aren't counting on you having O2 sensors tuned out
When I went to inspection, the one guy did open my hood though. It was all stock besides the lid, but I guarantee this moron had no idea what he was looking at anyway.

yea u can get them tuned out or simmed, but if they look under the car ur screwed (if they care enough)
or if u get pulled over by the cops they'll have you take the LT's off because they are illegal in all 50 states

What cops are going to pull you over and check your exhaust manifolds??
That only happens in California, where they are emmissions Nazis.
And they can't make you take off anything anyway. They would give you a "fix it" ticket which means you are supposed to address the "issue" within a certain amount of days. They aren't going to confescate your LT's, please

In my town my friend has gotten pulled over several times for noise/burnouts/speeding in his 94 GT with LT's and off road H. They ask him if it's legal and he said he has no idea cuz it's his mom's car (under her name). I don't think they can do shit in CT unless they really wanna be a dick.

Do you think we could get back on topic? I'd like to know if i can just get the rear 02's tuned out if I don't get cats. Does it work the same if i were to get cats? I'd really like to save the $200 from buying them...

You can have tuned out by a shop with the right software, buy LS1 Edit or HP Tuner yourself and tune em out or use 02 simulators. 02 sims would proly be the cheapest route. I had mine tuned out and have passed twice.

hmmm yea that sounds like the best bet. So since it doesnt matter if i have cats or not (no visual/sniffer test) then i might as well ditch em and get 02 sims. The sims will take care of the codes and i should pass.
