    Sadly now demodded :(

At WOT the PCM shuts down the AC compressor so why bother???

    Unless you're removing weight I wouldn't bother.

If the compressor is belt driven, then it's still devoting engine power to turning it right? And I am totally asking, because I didn't even really know the a/c was belt driven...

When the pcm shuts it down under WOT, does it then physically disconnect itself from the pulley, so that the engine isn't turning anything but the pulley itself?

When the pcm shuts it down the pulley still workin
so I thought the motor could lose power cuz the pulley still workin
my friend told me if you delete it the belt turns faster and that's when it makes more power

Yeah that's what I figured, that even if the compressor is disengaged the engine still has to spin the pulley. Though of course that would take less power than spinning the pulley with the compressor engaged.

But how much power can be reclaimed by eliminating the pulley altogether? Which, I do realize, is your original question I'm just trying to work through this logically with my limited knowledge...

Just pull off the belt. Then test it out.

This. All you have to do is make back to back runs after removing the belt. I donīt think youīll see a difference. The big advantage is losing weight and cleaner engine bay.

You donīt need a smaller belt. The AC has itīs own belt, just take it off.

If you race at the track you can go to a smaller belt. Many people short belt to get better times. You remove the A/C and power steering belts. I forget the part number but you can buy it at any auto store. You will knock time off your ET. I only run A/C during the summer. The belt for it is off all other seasons. When you get use to swapping the belts out it takes less than a minute (belt tension tool helps). I short belt at the track myself.

Again the belt is only on here during the summer. I cant say I really feel a dfference. What I can say is when I short belt. IE remove the A/C and power steering belts. I then put on the short belt. And like I stated I saw a drop in 1/4 mile time.
