A/C Compressor question
Hello everyone!
I have a 98 firebird Formula LS1, it's A/C compressor has died.
Here in Oz, we have HEAPS of cars with the LS1 motor, however, they are the later versions found in the later cars (eg: Pontiac GTO) and they are different. However, obviously if I can adapt the newer A/C Compressor to the older LS1 engine, this would save me a lot of money, I could probably pick up one from a local wreckers, whereas getting a genuine part for the 98 would be very costly. Has anyone fit the newer A/C compressor onto the 4th Gen cars?

Wow, not a clue. Our F-body compressors bolt to the passenger side of the engine block, down low. I have no idea if the mounting has changed.

The pulleys may be different. If I was in your shoes I would do a side by side comparison make sure the bolt pattern and pulley are the same as well as the wire harness. The pulley turn direction would matter too. IIRC stock one rotates clock wise. The connectors for the ac lines would also be an issue.
