buy slp smooth bello or just get a piece of straight silicon for air lid?

i was shocked to see that a bello for air lid/ TB was that much $. has anybody just added a straight piece of silicon coupling 3"-4" instaed of that.

i really dont see the difference!

Yeah, I have a baker hose which is just a straight piece of silicon hose. I see the SLP smooth bellows pretty cheap from time to time so if you find a used one cheap I would probably pick it up. I just looked up the Baker and it's $31 which is more than I remember paying for mine a few years ago. You can also get a fernco hose from Lowe's or Home Depot and it's about $5 although it worked I thought fitment sucked on it but like I say, it was a $5 hose.

i had the Fernco too. it is a bitch to get it on and off since it doesnt have a rib to stretch, but nonetheless is a money saver if your on a limited budget. works just as well.

Cracking depends on the lid brand, & the bellows brand.
I had this package on my car over a year with NO problems.
Bellows boot mod is more visual that anything. Not much in the proven HP gains.

Shown below is the Donaldson Blackwing lid. Superb construction. The bellows I had was picked up from Home Depot & was 3-1/2"dia x 4"dia x 4-1/2" overall length.
