    broken intake bolt

I was tightening down my intake bolts because they were loose and one of the bolts broke. How do I get the broken piece out? Am I screwed?

Its the second bolt on the drivers side. The bolt came out but some of the thread is missing. By the way the car is still under warranty, is there anyway I could get the dealer to fix it?

the bolt came out? all you need to do is get a tap that fits the hole perectly. That will get the remaining threads out of the hole leaving you with a nice threaded hole.

Run a tap through it. Sorry to hear about that. That's the thing about aluminum. It's great because nothing rusts but you have to be very careful when you torque stuff down. Intake bolts are 44 INCH lb's the first pass and 89 INCH lbs the second pass. The dealer will fix it but the warranty won't cover it and the dealer will give a good raping I'm sure.

Maybe someone here smarter than I am will chime in but I might be tempted to try a shorter bolt on that hole and see how it worked. Not sure if that'd work but I would probably try it.

I would recommend a bolt extractor kit as well, but only if you know what you're doing. If you're not comfortable trying on your own, use a smaller bolt, as already advised, just temporarily. I would honestly avoid going to the dealer, as any credible machine shop will have it out in a matter of seconds, for pretty cheap...

From the length of the broken bolt it looks like the other part of it is stuck in the head. I don't even want to mess with it. So this might be a good enough excuse to do H/C package. I was wondering if it was possible to only upgrade the heads? What price range would I be looking at for heads and installation? What else would I need to upgrade?
