    Borla or Bassani?

Finally have the money to expand the exhaust (which actually sounds pretty decent standard) and I am thinking (purely on brand) going with a catback system with either Borla or Bassani. Are either of these companies better than the other? Thanks.

they are the 2 best. the bassani is amazing I would have it if I could afford it. same goes for borla, but the bassani is so much nicer.

i used to have the borla 3" adjustable catback on the wife's car. without cats, the resonance got real bad in side the car. replaced it with the bassani tru-duals and the interior noise was cut in half. also gained 15 rwhp in the process.

Why is the Bassani stainless version only for 00-02? At least according to LMPerformance.

I find it hard to believe, no impossible the gained 15rwhp over an open Borla. Maybe over a closed, or partially closed one. If the Borla is closed tho the resonance isn't there. Well anyway, I'd rather have the Borla and leave Bassani to the Mustang guys but that my .02.

the hook up to the cats was changed in 00-02 versus 98-99. in 98-99 the passenger cat is further down and welded into the y-pipe. starting in 2000, they changed the passenger cat to be directly bolted to the manifold, just like the driver side. with a minor weld on the passenger side, it will fit.

    here's the y-pipe from the wife's 99 formula

here's the one from my 2000 formula

i have this system on both of my cars.

it was with the medium plate in it. find me dynos where someone went through and made runs with each plate in it and showed the gains/losses. i haven't seen any. (not being mean here). you say impossible, i want to see some supporting evidence.

i did the dyno runs myself. the temps were only 2* difference. the rpm/mph was the same. both runs were on stock tune as well. i can show where others have swapped from whatever aftermarket exhaust they had to the bassani and got gains.

If I were to get the ARH headers for 00+ and the stainless Bassani would it work without and fuss? I'm guessing its the same reason most headers are for 98-99 and 00+.

the bassani is originally designed for factory manifolds and cats. with some minor changing, it will fit most headers. here's what i had to do to get the bassani to fit my dynatech headers. scroll to the bottom to see the install pics

simply put, with a smart exhaust shop guy, he can get it to work. two cuts, two 3" to 2.5" reducers, cut back the pipe on the x-pipe and voila!! done.
