also curious on your ls6 heads..are they milled or polished ? or both..with your cam did you have to get your pistons fly cut? might i dare say..if you dont have to fly cut for the 5.2s..to go that route..up your compression and get some pretty solid numbers.. just a suggestion

nice..i would have said get a custom grind cam also..but i know you know your shit so i dont bother ...you've been over on tech alot lately? i dont see you here alot and i am starting to hang out and troll around tech more lately

heads are welded up. they are the old Patriot Stage II Ls6 style heads (6.0L truck castings). 2.02" int/1.57" ext, 59cc. polished 5 angle valve job, CNC ported, etc. C/R is around 11.3-11.5:1...

did not have to flycut the pistons, plenty of clearance...

i will never join the 5.3L bandwagon, waste of $$$, IMO...

Won't jump on the 5.3L bandwagon!? The only difference between the LS6 style heads and any other LSx heads like the 5.3s variants once ported is the combustion chamber. Patriot welds the chambers on the LS6 heads for better compression and eliminates the minimal advantage the LS6 chambers had to begin with. In the end, you end up paying a lot more for the "LS6" heads than the 5.3L heads that are for the most part, no different. Welding the chambers on the LS6 heads is a poor way (poor, like everything else Patriot) to create more compression without sacrificing valve clearance.

while there is thanks for your input in regards to my comment, my thread is not going to be turned into a pissing match for or against any vendors heads or their quality, etc...

i have seen the difference in 5.3 vs. Ls6 heads and it's been proven that Ls6 heads and variants of, consistantly produce more power at times even before milled or ordered @ 59cc. plus if one goes stroker you can still use Ls6 heads while 5.3's will have to be ditched and other heads bought since they are simply to small for the job. now who ends up paying more...?

nothing tickles me more than when someone has an MS4 cam and Stage II 5.3 heads and produces both lower HP and TQ than my little 224 cam and "poor" as you say Patriot heads...

hmm see i heard the 5.3s are very solid for the increase in CR..however with alot of cams fly cutting is required due to clearance..i know nothing about welding chambers ect.

im not in disagreement about 5.3's ability to increase C/R, that has been proven time and time again. i am talking about installing a smaller set of heads to get to do so, when the same (in most cases better) results can be achieved using Ls6 heads of the same/similar "cc"...

and yes, as a result of the smaller head and tighter "cc" the majority of the time flycutting is required to run some cams. same can be said for Ls6 heads, though for piece of mind, not as 'required' just to get the cam to clear...

In the video clip your car sounds great. Always nice when the volume overwhelms the microphone. Good luck on your goal of 460 RWHP.

Lmao! Like that ever happens. Funnier when a Patriot head/cam car gets smoked by a cam only car at the track.

Dyno #s don't mean anything. I was about to delete my thread as I got the response notification so as not to be a d@ck but you bit soo I'll just say enjoy your dyno #s, should serve you well in many bench racing applications. BTW, the consensus on Tech is pretty much that Patriot heads are junk.
