Boiling point of water/anti freeze
Ive read so many opinions Im not sure what to think. I thought water had a higher boiling point and anti freeze was just an anti corrosive and not freeze when it gets cold. I was then told it just has better heat transfer. So what is the opinion here, should it be a 50/50 mix or more distilled water, what about water wetter or similar product and a higher psi radiator cap?

PEWTER- 2000 CAMARO SS #3821
Water boils at 212F, but pressurizing the sealed cooling system raises the boiling point and along with the coolant mix is what get the boiling point even higher I believe.

Yeah that is correct. I wanna say that every 1 psi raises the boiling point 2-3 degrees. So with a 15-16psi cap the boiling point of the 50/50 mix is around 260 or so.
I wouldn't run a higher psi cap. If your cooling system is working properly the motor shouldn't get hotter than 200-230 anyway.Junkyard bought and "refurbished" 2002 Camaro Z28 - Pacetter Race LT's, TS&P ORY, Frost tune, Magnaflow, Ported TB, SLP Lid, Circle D 3000, 3.73's, SFC's.

SSTodd is correct, also stay away from water wetter and all that Garbage. Stick with a 50/50 mix and you should be good to go.
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....
